Ways to finance your Ottawa renovation

We don't finance projects directly, but most homeowners use one of the options below. We're happy to talk through what fits during your free planning session.

Home equity line of credit (HELOC)

Borrow against your home's equity at lower rates than unsecured credit, drawing only what you need as the project progresses.

Mortgage refinance

Roll renovation costs into a refinanced mortgage — often the lowest-rate option for larger, value-adding projects.

Bank & credit-union renovation loans

Most major banks and Ontario credit unions offer dedicated renovation or home-improvement loans. Ask your institution about current rates.

Personal & line-of-credit options

For smaller projects and safety installs, an unsecured personal loan or line of credit can be the simplest route.

Energy-efficiency programs

Government and utility programs sometimes support insulation, heat-pump and window upgrades. Programs change often — for example, the federal Canada Greener Homes Loan closed to new applicants in 2025, with a newer income-based affordability program rolling out through the provinces. We'll help you check what's currently available.
